Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about dental care. We welcome any questions you may have as we manage your dental health.
Everyone’s needs are different, but most people benefit from regular checkups every six months. This may change depending on your unique health needs, which we will discuss at your next appointment.
Brush your teeth twice a day, for two minutes at a time, using a fluoride toothpaste. Place a soft-bristled brush at a 45-degree angle to your gums and move it back and forth, using gentle strokes. Brush all sides and surfaces of your teeth, and be sure to brush your tongue to remove bacteria and freshen your breath.
Our team will ask you questions about your teeth and recent medical history to address any new needs. We perform an exam to see if you need x-rays, which we offer in the office. At most checkups, our hygienist will clean your teeth and check for gum disease. We will evaluate your overall dental health and perform an oral cancer screening by examining your tongue, mouth, jaw, and neck.

Yes. Sometimes it’s even more important to have checkups because pregnancy can worsen some dental problems. Please tell us if you are pregnant and share any changes you’ve noticed in your teeth. Brushing and flossing contribute to a healthy mouth for you, which is also good for your baby.
Fluoride strengthens teeth and prevents decay. The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Dental Association (ADA), and the Centers for Disease Control all agree that kids should brush their teeth using fluoride toothpaste, while being careful not to swallow it. Adults also benefit from using fluoride.
